ORDINANCE NO. 7128 -82 AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 1, SECTION 2 -2 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA ENTITLED ADOPTION OF RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE COMMON COUNCIL AND POWERS THERETO. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT The Common Council of the City of South Bend recognizes the many educational benefits of meetings, conferences, and seminars which are frequently held for public officials. The Council further recognizes that attendance at such meetings, conferences, and seminars enables public officials to learn about new programs, laws, and activities in other communities. In the interest of developing a fair and systematic procedure of allocating travel funds for the entire Common Council, the fol- lowing rule is recommended. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: SECTION I. Chapter 2, Article 1, Section 2 -2 of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend, Indiana is hereby amended by the inclusion of new sub - section (1) which shall read as follows: Sec. 2 -2 Adoption of rules and regulations by the Common Council and powers thereto. (1) The annual amount of money budgeted for expenses in the Common Council budget shall be divided equally among the nine (9) Councilmen. Any monies not used pursuant to such division may be allocated to another Councilman upon his or her request, with informal Council approval.
