Department of Public Parks
Administration Building
St. Louis Boulevard at Wayne Street
South Bend, Indiana 46617
PHONE: (219) 284 -9401
February 3, 1982
Members of the Common Council
4th Floor County -City Building
South Bend, Indiana 46601
Dear Members of the Council:
This bill would provide $25,000.00 from General Revenue Sharing
for the operation of the Howard Park Senior Citizen Center during
1982.
The recent cuts mandated by the State Board of Tax Commissioners
resulted in reductions in the Park Department in excess of
$215,000.00. Among the things that were cut at that time were
funds to operate the Howard Park Senior Citizen Center.
The Mayor and the Park Board are committed to the continued oper-
ation of the Center, and this $25,000.00 appropriation would make
that possible. Your favorable consideration is requested.
Thank you very much.
Sincerely, ^
a7 mes R. Seitz
Superintendent of Parks
JRS:des
Attachment
