Health & Public Safety <br />3.50 p.m. <br />April 22, 2013 <br />Committee Members Present: Karen White, Dr. Ferlic, Dr. Varner, Tim Scott <br />Other Council Present: Henry Davis, Valerie Schey, Oliver Davis, Gavin Ferlic, Derek Dieter <br />Others Present: Randy Rompola, Scott Ford, Mike Schmuhl, Carol Davis, Jack Smith, <br />Rahman Johnson <br />Agenda: Bill No. 17 -13 — Fire Station #5 & Training Facility Lease <br />Karen White, Chairperson of the Public Safety Committee called her group to order noting full <br />attendance. <br />The one item on the agenda was Bill No. 17 -13 which authorized a lease to finance the construction of a <br />new Fire Station #5 and a Fire Safety Training Facility. <br />As is required by state law this is the second public hearing on this lease- purchase. <br />Randy Rompola was called up on by Karen t explain the entire bond proposal. Bonds would be issued by <br />and sold through a specially formed building corporation. The bonds would be underwritten by <br />ambulance fees and secondarily by the City allowing the lowest possible interest rate. <br />There were no remonstrators or proponents from the public so Karen turned to the Council. Following a <br />brief technical Q & A the committee was pleased to unanimously support a motion by Tim Scott and <br />seconded by Fred Ferlic to send favorably. <br />There being no further business to come before the committee at this time, Chairperson White adjourned <br />the meeting at 3:57 p.m. <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br />aren L.
