HARRIS, Jr. <br />At Large <br />JOHN VOORDE <br />At Large <br />KATHLEEN CEKANSKI - FARRAND <br />Council Attorney <br />CITY of SOUTH BEND <br />COMMON COUNCIL <br />441 COUNTY -CITY BUILDING SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601 <br />November 17, 1982 <br />Members of the Common Council <br />County =City Building <br />South Bend, IN 46601 <br />Dear Council Members: <br />The attached Bill would freeze all elected <br />City Officers' salaries for 1984, at 1983 <br />levels. <br />Due to the increasing budgetary restraints <br />being placed upon our City, a Bill of this <br />type is deemed to be necessary. <br />This Bill is being introduced now for con- <br />sideration, in order to avoid the "politics <br />and personalities" of the upcoming elections. <br />Hopefully by passing such a salary ordinance <br />now, the Council will be able to carefully <br />weigh and measure the fiscal impact of such <br />salaries on the entire City budget.
