CITY OF SOUTH BEND REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING – October 24 , 2024 <br /> <br />6 <br /> <br />Upon a motion by David Relos for approval, seconded by Vivian Sallie, <br />the motion carried unanimously; the Commission approved the <br />Resolution as presented on October 24, 2024. <br /> <br />6. Bid Specifications (SBCSC Bendix Site) <br /> <br />Upon a motion by David Relos for approval, seconded by Vivian Sallie, <br />the motion carried unanimously; the Commission approved the bid <br />specifications as presented on October 24, 2024. <br /> <br />7. Notice of Intended Disposition (SBCSC Bendix Site) <br /> <br />Upon a motion by David Relos for approval, seconded by Vivian Sallie, <br />the motion carried unanimously; the Commission approved the notice <br />of intended disposition as presented on October 24, 2024. <br /> <br />8. Budget Request (City Hall & Leighton Renovations) includes REDA, <br />SSDA & RERDA <br /> <br />Jitin Kain, Deputy Director of Public Works, presented the budget <br />request for $900,000 for the renovations of the former South Bend <br />school corporation building to become the new city hall which will <br />include full upgrades of the elevator, mechanicals, plumbing, electrical, <br />and office spaces. $330,000 will be reimbursed back to the <br />Commission after the last quarter’s appropriations in December. Troy <br />Warner asked about the bids process and Mr. Kain explained that the <br />bids have gone out and we expect to receive an award in <br />approximately two weeks and hope to begin work in November 2024. <br />Completion should take approximately nine months. Commissioner <br />Relos asked about the Leighton portion and Mr. Kain stated that there <br />will be an annex where future other city offices can be located. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sallie asked about all of the city workers being at one <br />location and Caleb Bauer stated the there is more consolidation with <br />city hall than currently exist today. Commissioner Relos asked about <br />municipal utilities and Mr. Kain stated that there will be a one-stop- <br />shop for residents at the new city hall and the bulk of public interests <br />will now be in one location with parking in the parking garage as well <br />as on the street. <br /> <br />Upon a motion by David Relos for approval, seconded by Troy Warner, <br />the motion carried unanimously; the Commission approved the budget <br />request as presented on October 24, 2024. <br /> <br />9.
