Ludowici Interlocking Tile Installation Manual <br />28 www.ludowici.com <br />Flashing at Side Walls <br />The transition from roof to side wall is flashed with step <br />flashing. <br />Step Flashing <br />In the step method of flashing, individual 16 oz. sheet <br />copper flashing is applied between each course of tile. <br />A minimum head lap of 3" must be provided from step <br />flashing to step flashing. <br />The following criteria should be used to determine the <br />appropriate size for step flashing: <br />1. The step flashings should be the length of the filed tile <br />plus 1". <br />2. The step flashing should extend up the vertical surface <br />a minimum of 4" and a minimum of 2" overlap of the <br />siding, cladding or copper counterflashing. <br />3. The step flashing should extend a minimum of 5" onto <br />the roof so that there is at least a 5" overlap of the <br />underlying tile. <br />4.
