They have wielded more power than the office of Mayor from time to time, and have never demonstrated any reason to trust their governance. Hell, as cannabis legalization is widely popular, it is police unions that lobby to keep it illegal because they want to have the excuse to harass minorities. We know for a fact the kkk spent the past 70 years infiltrating every law agency they can. Hell, the police were literally invented to hunt down runaway slaves Please do not surrender power to regressive forces. I am writing to urge you to reject Bill No. 65-24, an ordinance establishing a police merit board for the South Bend Police Department.
