<br /> <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />STUDEBAKER NATIONAL MUSEUM <br />SKYLIGHT REPLACEMENT FLASHING AND SHEET METAL 07600-4 <br />C. Execution <br /> <br />1. Examination: The Installer must examine substrates and conditions under which metal <br />flashings will be installed and notify Contractor in writing of unsatisfactory conditions. Do <br />not proceed with installation until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected in a <br />manner acceptable to the Installer. <br /> <br />2. Preparation: Separate dissimilar metals from each other by painting each metal surface in <br />area of contact with a heavy application of bituminous coating. <br /> <br />3. Installation: <br /> <br />a. Except as otherwise indicated, comply with manufacturer's installation instructions <br />and recommendations and with SMACNA "Architectural Sheet Metal Manual". <br /> <br />b. Install work with provisions for thermal expansion of flashings and other items <br />exposed for more than 15' continuous length. Maintain a watertight installation at <br />expansion seams. Locate expansion seams where shown, or if not shown, in <br />conformance with applicable recommendations of "Architectural Sheet Metal <br />Manual" by SMACNA. <br /> <br />c. Sheet metal work shall be watertight and weathertight; lines, arises, and angles <br />sharp and true; plain surfaces free from waves and buckles. Workmen shall be <br />experienced in the trade and thoroughly capable of performing the Work in <br />accordance with these requirements. <br /> <br />d. Prefabricated reglets and counterflashings shall be installed in accordance with <br />manufacturer's printed instructions. Coordinate reglets with work by others. <br />1) Position counterflashing into reglet and "snap" into place against roof <br />membrane flashing. <br /> <br />4. Cleaning and Protection: <br /> <br />a. Clean exposed metal surfaces in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. <br />Touch-up damaged metal coatings. <br /> <br />b. Protection: Provide protective measures as required to ensure that work of this <br />section will be without damage or deterioration at time of Substantial Completion. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />END OF SECTION 07600
