<br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND <br />STUDEBAKER NATIONAL MUSEUM <br />SKYLIGHT REPLACEMENT CUTTING AND PATCHING 01045-2 <br />B. Products <br /> <br />1. Materials: Materials for cutting and patching shall be as approved in the various Sections of <br />these Specifications for new work. <br /> <br />2. Existing Materials: Use materials identical to existing materials. For exposed surfaces, use <br />materials that visually match existing adjacent surfaces to the fullest extent possible. If <br />identical materials are unavailable or cannot be used, use materials that, when installed, will <br />match the visual and functional performance of existing materials <br /> <br />C. Execution <br /> <br /> 1. Coordination: <br /> <br />a. Verify existing conditions and coordinate schedule of work with other trades to <br />minimize cutting and patching and to select appropriate means and methods to <br />minimize damage. <br /> <br />b. Notify the Architect of any deteriorated or unsatisfactory materials and conditions <br />encountered during cutting and patching operations. <br /> <br />c. All patching work shall match surrounding materials in "like new" condition. <br /> <br /> 2. Cutting and Patching: <br /> <br />a. Remove and replace all defective materials. Provide samples of existing and new <br />materials for inspection and testing as requested. <br /> <br />b. Schedule and coordinate cutting and patching work to allow for the work of other <br />trades. <br /> <br />c. Avoid damage to the work of other trades. Repair all damage caused by cutting and <br />patching operations. <br /> <br />d. No cutting torches will be allowed without specific approval of the Architect and <br />Owner. If approved, all fire safety precautions shall be taken, including, but not <br />limited to, the use of fire extinguishers, designated fire watch personnel, etc. <br /> <br />e. Examine surfaces to be cut and patched and conditions under which cutting and <br />patching are to be performed. <br /> <br />f. Compatibility: Before patching, verify compatibility with and suitability of substrates, <br />including compatibility with existing finishes or primers. Proceed with installation only <br />after unsafe or unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. <br /> <br />g. Temporary Support: Provide temporary support of Work to be cut. <br /> <br />h. Protection: Protect existing construction during cutting and patching to prevent <br />damage. Provide protection from adverse weather conditions for portions of Project <br />that might be exposed during cutting and patching operations. <br /> <br />i. Adjoining Areas: Avoid interference with use of adjoining areas or interruption of <br />free passage to adjoining areas.
