SOUTH BEND PUBLIC UTILITIES
224 North Main Street
P.O. Box 1714
MICHAEL L. VANCE
Director of Utilities
CITY ®f SOUTH BEND
ROGER O. PARENT, Mayor
COUNTY -CITY BUILDING SOUTH BEND, INDIANA 46601
Mrs. Beverlie Beck
President
Common Council
City of South Bend
Dear Mrs. Beck:
January 17, 1983
Under first readings of the January 24, 1983 Council
Meeting will be a proposed ordinance approving a contract
in the amount of $22,446.00 between the Board of Water
Commissioners and Basney Ford for the replacement of three
(3) vehicles.
219/284 -9322
The 1983 Utilities Budget as approved included the
replacement of (2) two mobile operator 24 hour vehicles
and the Superintendent of Maintenance vehicle. The former
are 1980 Chevy Novas with an excess of 60,000 miles and the
latter is a 1976 Chevy, badly rusted with 57,060 miles.
In replacing these vehicles, we chose to use specifi-
cations as previously bid through the Board of Public Works
as they met our needs for 6 cylinder vehicles.
As I'm asking for approval of a previously budgeted
item, I repectfully request that rules be waived on the
night of the 24th of January and 2nd reading and public
hearing take place.
If you have any questions, please feel free to
contact my office.
Sincerely,
Michael L. Vance
Director of Utilities
MLV /mtw
