BILL NO. <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $73,478.00,FROM THE <br />LOCAL EQUAL EMPLOYMENT AND EQUAL HOUSING <br />OPPORTUNITYFUND TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY <br />OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION <br />AND DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. <br />STATEMENT OR PURPOSE AND INTENT: <br />The City of South Bend is committed to equal opportunity <br />in employment and housing. In attempting to achieve this goal, a <br />local Human Rights Commission has been established. This Ordinance <br />will enable the Human Rights Commission to resolve charges of <br />illegal discrimination and to otherwise develop and implement <br />programs designed to promote equal opportunity in employment and <br />housing. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of <br />the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. The sum of $73,478.00 is hereby appropriated <br />for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 1983 and ending September <br />30, 1984. A total of $49,545.00 is appropriated from the Equal <br />Employment Opportunity Fund under a grant from the U.S. Equal <br />Employment Opportunity Commission and a total of $23,933.00 is <br />appropriated from the Equal Employment in Housing Fund under a <br />grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. <br />The appropriation shall be administered by the Human Rights Commission <br />and Department of Economic Development and used for the operation <br />thereof. <br />SECTION II. <br />effect from and after <br />by the Mayor. <br />This Ordinance shall be in full force and <br />its passage by the Common Council and approval <br />r - :- � : - Co Council <br />1st R!Ab,NG Q / r <br />PUBLIC HARING <br />21,d READING <br />NOT APPROVED <br />REFERRED <br />PASSED �, �4 <br />
