SUBSTITUTE BILL NO. 100 -83 ORDINANCE NO. 7a AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 1, SECTION 2 -3 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, BY CLARIFYING THE FIRST ANNUAL REGULAR MEETING DATE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT Changes'in the Indiana State Law through the adoption of Title 36 of the Indiana Code, require amendments to the City Code as they pertain to the first annual meeting of the Common Council. The following Bill amends the Code so it is consistent with Indiana State Law. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana as follows: SECTION I. Chapter 2, Article 1, Section 2 -3, shall be amended in part to read as follows: Sec. 2 -3 Organization meeting of the Common Council; Officers; Election; Terms. (a) The members -e +eet of the Common Council shall hold their first regular meeting on the first Monday of January after their election at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers. This meeting shall take place at noon on the first Monday of each succeeding January thereafter. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor.
