REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 28,1996 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South <br />Bend met in the Council Chambers of the County -City Building on <br />Monday, October 28, 1996, at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was called to <br />order and the Pledge to the Flag was given. <br />ROLL CALL Present: Council Members Luecke, <br />Pfeifer, Kelly, Broden, <br />Varner, Zakrzewski, Coleman, <br />Hosinski and Washington <br />Absent: None <br />REPORT FROM THE SUB - COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />The sub - committee has inspected the minutes of the October 14, <br />meeting of the Council and found them correct. <br />Therefore, we recommend the same be approved. <br />/s/ Roland Kelly <br />/s/ David Varner <br />Council Member Coleman made a motion that the minutes of the <br />October 14, 1996, meetings be accepted and placed on file, <br />seconded by Council Member Varner. The motion carried. <br />SPECIAL BUSINESS <br />Council President Kelly announced that due to November 11 being a <br />holiday, the next Council meeting will be held on November 25. <br />REPORT OF CITY OFFICES <br />Ann Kolata, Redevelopment Director, reported that James Riggs <br />will be giving an update on the Blackthorn Development Area. <br />James Riggs, project manager, discussed the goals that have been <br />established for the corporate park, as well as the fact that <br />1,789 jobs have been created, with an assessment value increase <br />of $13,500,000. <br />Council Member Luecke made a motion to resolve into the Committee <br />of the Whole, seconded by Council Member Hosinski. The motion <br />carried. <br />COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South <br />Bend met in the Committee of the Whole at 7:15 p.m. with nine <br />members present. Chairman Washington presiding. <br />BILL NO. 83 -96 A BILL TO VACATE THE FOLLOWING DESCRIBED PROPERTY: <br />THE ALLEYS TO BE VACATED ARE DESCRIBED AS THE 1ST <br />NORTH -SOUTH ALLEY WEST OF WABASH STREET FROM THE <br />NORTH RIGHT -OF -WAY OF WEST EWING AVENUE TO THE <br />SOUTH RIGHT -OF -WAY OF THE 1ST EAST -WEST ALLEY <br />NORTH OF WEST EWING AVENUE RUNNING BETWEEN MEADE <br />AND WABASH STREETS, FOR A DISTANCE OF <br />APPROXIMATELY 120 FEET IN LENGTH AND A WIDTH OF 14 <br />FEET, PART LOCATED IN HOMELAND 2ND ADDITION TO THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. ALSO, THE 1ST EAST- <br />WEST ALLEY NORTH OF WEST EWING AVENUE FROM THE <br />WEST RIGHT -OF -WAY OF WABASH STREET TO THE EAST <br />RIGHT -OF -WAY OF THE 1ST NORTH -SOUTH ALLEY WEST OF <br />WABASH STREET FOR A DISTANCE OF APPROXIMATELY 129 <br />FEET IN LENGTH AND A WIDTH OF 14 FEET, PART <br />LOCATED IN HOMELAND 2ND ADDITION TO THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />
