REGULAR MEETING <br />May 13, 1996 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South <br />Bend met in the Council Chambers of the County -City Building on <br />Monday, May 13, 1996, at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was called to <br />order and the Pledge to the Flag was given. <br />ROLL CALL Present: Council Members Luecke, <br />Pfeifer, Kelly, Broden, <br />Varner, Zakrzewski, Coleman <br />Hosinski and Washington <br />Absent: None <br />REPORT FROM THE SUB - COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: <br />The sub - committee has inspected the minutes of the April 15, <br />meeting of the Council and found them correct. <br />Therefore, we recommend the same be approved. <br />/s/ Roland Kelly <br />/s/ David Varner <br />Council Member Coleman made a motion that the minutes of the <br />April 15, 1996, meeting be accepted and placed on file, seconded <br />by Council Member Zakrzewski. The motion carried. <br />SPECIAL BUSINESS <br />Council Member Kelly announced that due to the holiday the next <br />regular meeting of the Council will be Tuesday, May 28. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 96 -31 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND ADOPTING A <br />WRITTEN FISCAL PLAN AND ESTABLISHING A <br />POLICY FOR THE PROVISION OF SERVICES TO <br />AN ANNEXED AREA IN CENTRE TOWNSHIP <br />Council Member Coleman made a motion to continue this bill <br />indefinitely, at the request of the petitioner, seconded by <br />Council Member Zakrzewski. The motion carried. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2354 -96 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL AND <br />MAYOR OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, EXPRESSING THE CITY'S SUPPORT <br />TO PROJECT FUTURE IN 1997 THROUGH 2001 <br />Whereas, the Common Council and Mayor of the City of South <br />bend, Indiana, acknowledge that for the past fourteen (14) years <br />Project Future has promoted South Bend, Mishawaka and St. Joseph <br />County for economic development purposes; and <br />Whereas, over the period of time, Project Future has <br />assisted in numerous major economic development projects in our <br />community which have generated nearly $1.4 billion of investment <br />and directly created more than 4,800 new jobs (with over 30,000 <br />total jobs ultimately being created in the County); and <br />Whereas, Project Future plans to continue to conduct an <br />area -wide economic development program to attract businesses and <br />expand our existing businesses; and <br />Whereas, Project Future has requested from the City of South <br />Bend, the City of Mishawaka, and St. Joseph County, respectively, <br />five (5) year commitments to assist in the funding of its <br />economic development programs and its educational initiatives; <br />
