ORDINANCE NO. 7 1 Q a -- e3 AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $25,000 FROM THE FEDERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT FUND COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS GENERAL REVENUE SHARING FOR THE WESTERN AVENUE ECONOMIC INITIATIVE FOR 1983 TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: WHEREAS, the livability of South Bend's inter- city neighborhoods depends, in part, upon the availability of neighborhood commercial centers, and WHEREAS, Western Avenue is a major neighborhood commerical center and the revitalization of this area will improve the quality of life for all South Bend residents, and WHEREAS, funds are needed to conduct studies and prepare plans to begin the revitalization of the Western Avenue commerical center, and WHEREAS, funds are available within the General Revenue Sharing Fund. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA: SECTION I. That the sum of $25,000 is hereby appropriated for the year 1983 from the Federal Assistance Grant Fund, commonly known as the General Revenue Sharing Trust Fund. This appropriation is to be administered by the Department of Economic Development and will be distributed as set forth below: PROGRAM FA 232 WESTERN AVENUE ECONOMIC INITIATIVE ACCOUNT DESCRIPTION AMOUNT 399.0 Other Contractuals $25,000.00 TOTAL $25,000.00 SECTION II.
