Ewing, spoke <br />in favor of the bill, indicating he was a volunteer at the Hall <br />and it deserves the City's full support. A resident of 219 Rue <br />Rabelais, indicated he was a frequent visitor at the Hall and <br />from his observation the people on tours were very pleased. <br />Joseph Doyle, 5514 Aberdeen, urged the Council to approve the <br />budget. He indicated we should exercise patience, and with Notre <br />Dame's expanded stadium and the new teams coming into the City <br />the attendance should increase. Bob Severeid, 14800 Brick Rd., <br />asked the Council to support the Hall. He indicated that the <br />Hall is here, so lets get behind it. Jeff Young, 1351 E. South, <br />spoke in favor of the Hall and the 1998 budget, indicating it was <br />a fantastic facility. Barbara Brownell, 1407 Sunnymede, <br />indicated that we naysayers care about South Bend and we have to <br />try and stop the money train. Joyce Boaler, indicated that <br />basing a budget on imagining is foolish. She also indicated that <br />the City was in trouble for spending money for equipment for the <br />Hall before it was appropriated. Mike Sculati, 1414 Woodlawn, <br />indicated it was time somebody is accountable, and the City <br />Council needs to be held accountable, and the NFF needs to have <br />a stronger commitment to the Hall. Jim Cierzniak, 1156 E. <br />Victoria, read a prepared statement regarding the losses at the <br />Hall. After a lengthily discussion by the Council, Council <br />Member Kelly made a motion to recommend this bill to the Council <br />favorable, seconded by Council Member Pfeifer. The motion <br />carried. <br />BILL NO.--131-97 A BILL OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND MAKING TECHNICAL CORRECTIONS TO <br />ORDINANCE NO. 8623 -95 OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, ADDRESSING <br />SALARIES OF EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the <br />above bill, proponents and opponent were given an opportunity to <br />be heard. Council Member Coleman reported that the Personnel and <br />Finance Committee had met on this bill and recommended it to the <br />Council favorable. Cathy Roemer, City Controller, made the <br />presentation for the bill. She reported this bill created new <br />positions, changed titles and/or compensation for existing <br />positions. Council Member Aranowski made a motion to recommend <br />this bill to the Council favorable, seconded by Council Member <br />Sniadecki. The motion carried. <br />Council Member Varner made a motion to rise and report to the <br />Council, seconded by Council Member Broden. Council Member Coleman made a <br />motion to amend this bill, as amended in the Committee of the <br />Whole, seconded by Council Member Varner. The motion carried. <br />Council Member Coleman made a motion to pass this bill, seconded <br />
