REGULAR MINUTES JUNE 23, 1997 <br />BEND, INDIANA, APPROPRIATING EIGHT HUNDRED FOUR <br />THOUSAND DOLLARS ($804,000) FROM THE GENERAL FUND <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the <br />above bill, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to <br />be heard. Council Member Coleman reported that the Personnel and <br />Finance Committee had met on this bill and recommended it to the <br />Council favorable. Cathy Roemer, City Controller, made the <br />presentation for the bill. She indicated this money is being <br />appropriated to cover various contracts that must be let prior to <br />the receipt of bond proceeds, and any moneys spent will be <br />reimbursed from the proceeds of the bonds. Council Member <br />Hosinski made a motion to recommend this bill to the Council <br />favorable, seconded by Council Member Sniadecki. The motion <br />carried. <br />BILL NO. 54 -97 A BILL APPROPRIATING $41,210.00 FROM THE MORRIS <br />CIVIC AUDITORIUM IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR THE PURPOSE <br />OF PERFORMING VARIOUS REPAIRS AT THE MORRIS CIVIC <br />AUDITORIUM <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the <br />above bill, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to <br />be heard. Council Member Coleman reported that the Personnel and <br />Finance Committee had met on this bill and recommended it to the <br />Council favorable. Cleo Hickey, director of the Morris Civic, <br />made the presentation for the bill. She indicted this <br />appropriation would provide for various improvement to the <br />Morris, such as; front heater equipment, boiler and a/c repairs, <br />roof repairs, stage and backstage repairs, and a construction <br />manager. She indicated these moneys will come from their <br />improvement fund. Council Member Hosinski made a motion to <br />recommend this bill to the Council favorable, seconded by Council <br />Member Sniadecki. The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 55 -97 A BILL OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA APPROPRIATING SIXTY THOUSAND DOLLARS <br />($60,000) FROM THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STATE <br />GRANT FUND (FUND 210) <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the <br />above bill, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to <br />be heard. Council Member Broden reported that the Economic <br />Development Committee had met on this bill and recommended it to <br />the Council favorable. Ann Kolata, director of Redevelopment, <br />made the presentation for the bill. She indicated this bill <br />would appropriate $60,000 from a state grant for expenses related <br />to conducting a feasibility study for redevelopment of the former <br />Oliver Plow Works. Council Member Broden made a motion to <br />recommend this to the Council favorable, seconded by Council <br />Member Kelly. The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 56 -97 A BILL OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA, APPROVING PARKING RATES FOR PARKING <br />GARAGES OPERATED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS OF <br />THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the <br />above bill, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to <br />be heard. Council Member Coleman reported that the Personnel and <br />Finance Committee had met on this bill and recommended it to the <br />Council favorable. Council Member Kelly made a motion to accept <br />the substitute bill on file with the City Clerk, seconded by <br />Council Member Aranowski. The motion carried. Ann Kolata, <br />director of Redevelopment, made the presentation for the bill. <br />She indicated this bill would allow for a change in the rate <br />structure for the municipal parking garages, in order to <br />alleviate the loss of parking spaces, because of the Leighton <br />Plaza Project. She reported that this bill would give free <br />parking in the City garages for less than two hours. Council <br />
