REGULAR MEETING <br />JUNE 22, 1998 <br />IMPROVEMENTS AND EXTENSIONS TO THE CITY'S SEWAGE <br />WORKS, THE ISSUANCE AND SALE OF ADDITIONAL REVENUE <br />BONDS TO PROVIDE FUNDS FOR THE PAYMENT OF THE <br />COSTS THEREOF, AND THE COLLECTION, SEGREGATION AND <br />DISTRIBUTION OF THE REVENUES OF SUCH SEWAGE WORKS <br />AND OTHER RELATED MATTERS <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the <br />above bill, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to <br />be heard. Council Member Ujdak reported that the Utilities <br />Committee had met on this bill and recommended it to the Council <br />favorable. Jack Dillon, Director of Environmental Services, made <br />the presentation for the bill. He indicated the bonds wwould be <br />used to construct improvements to the City's Sewage Works <br />Treatment Plant, and the improvements will meet the City's <br />wastewater collection and treatment plant requirements for the <br />next twenty years. He advised that the City will participate in <br />the State Wastewater Revolving Fund Loan Program which avoids <br />payment of interest on the bonds for the two years following <br />their issuance. He reported that the anticipated interest is <br />2.9 %. Council Member Hosinski made a motion to recommend this <br />bill to the Council favorable, seconded by Council Member <br />Aranowski. The motion carried. <br />Council Member Coleman made a motion to rise and report to the <br />Council, seconded by Council Member Aranowski. The motion <br />carried. <br />REGULAR MEETING RECONVENED <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South <br />Bend reconvened in the Council Chambers on the fourth floor of <br />the County -City Building at 7:32 p.m. Council President Coleman <br />presiding, and eight members present. <br />BILLS. THIRD READING <br />ORDINANCE NO. 8915 -98 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ZONING <br />ORDINANCE, AND ESTABLISHING AN HISTORIC <br />LANDMARK FOR THE PROPERTY COMMONLY KNOWN <br />AS THE JMS BUILDING LOCATED AT 108 NORTH <br />MAIN STREET, IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA <br />This bill had third reading. Council Member Hosinski recused <br />himself from voting on this bill, since he was one of the owners <br />of the building. Council Member Kelly made a motion to pass the <br />bill, seconded by Council Member Aranowski. The bill passed by a <br />roll call vote of seven ayes. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 8916 -98 AN ORDINANCE TO VACATE THE FOLLOWING <br />DESCRIBED PROPERTY: MAYFLOWER COURT FROM <br />THE WEST TERMINUS, RUNNING EAST FOR A <br />DISTANCE OF APPROXIMATELY 550 FEET <br />This bill had third reading. Council Member Aranowski made a <br />motion to pass this bill, seconded by Council Member Kelly. The <br />bill passed by a roll call vote of eight ayes. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 8917 -98 AN ORDINANCE TO VACATE THE FOLLOWING <br />DESCRIBED PROPERTY: A PART OF THE EAST <br />HALF OF THE NORTHEAST QUARTER OF SECTION <br />12, TOWNSHIP 37 NORTH, RANGE 2 EAST, <br />PORTAGE TOWNSHIP, CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />
