BILL NO. ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $1,557,000.00 IN SUPPLEMENTAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDING FOR PROGRAM YEAR 1983. THE SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING IS MADE AVAILABLE UNDER PUBLIC LAW 98 -8 AND WILL BE USED TO DEFRAY THE EXPENSES OF THE DIVISION OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AND DESIGNATED SUBGRANTEE AGENCIES. THE FUNDS WILL BE ADMINISTERED THROUGH THE DIVISION OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT The government of the City of South Bend, An partnership with the City's private sector and residents, is committed to the goal of improving the "quality of life" in the City, its neighborhoods, and for its residents. As part of this commitment, the City of South Bend through its Division of Community Development has applied for and should receive on or about August 1, 1983, the approval of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development to expend $1,557,000.00 in supplemental Community Development Block Grant funds made available under Public Law 98 -8. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: SECTION I . The sum of $1,557,000.00 is hereby appropriated for program year 1983, from the City of South Bend's Community Development Block Grant Fund. The appropriation shall be used as approved by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development under Title Twenty -four (24) of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part Five Hundred and Seventy (570) for the Community Development Program Year 1983.
