BILL NO. <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $1,557,000.00 IN SUPPLEMENTAL <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUNDING FOR PROGRAM YEAR <br />1983. THE SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDING IS MADE AVAILABLE UNDER <br />PUBLIC LAW 98 -8 AND WILL BE USED TO DEFRAY THE EXPENSES OF <br />THE DIVISION OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND, INDIANA, AND DESIGNATED SUBGRANTEE AGENCIES. THE FUNDS <br />WILL BE ADMINISTERED THROUGH THE DIVISION OF COMMUNITY <br />DEVELOPMENT. <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT <br />The government of the City of South Bend, An partnership with the <br />City's private sector and residents, is committed to the goal of improving the <br />"quality of life" in the City, its neighborhoods, and for its residents. As <br />part of this commitment, the City of South Bend through its Division of <br />Community Development has applied for and should receive on or about August 1, <br />1983, the approval of the United States Department of Housing and Urban <br />Development to expend $1,557,000.00 in supplemental Community Development Block <br />Grant funds made available under Public Law 98 -8. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I . The sum of $1,557,000.00 is hereby appropriated for <br />program year 1983, from the City of South Bend's Community Development Block <br />Grant Fund. The appropriation shall be used as approved by the United States <br />Department of Housing and Urban Development under Title Twenty -four (24) of the <br />Code of Federal Regulations, Part Five Hundred and Seventy (570) for the <br />Community Development Program Year 1983.
