No crushing or
pulverizing of existing foundations, masonry, etc. for reuse is allowed. All
foundations and building material must be hauled away, whether to landfill or
recycling facility.
Alternate No. 2 is a deduct alternate which will allow the Contractor to pulverize
or crush all existing masonry, foundations and concrete for reuse as backfill. The
fill must be clean, free of rebar, properly graded and properly compacted. The basement contains
a lot of tires and trash that have been dumped there over time. Is it the
responsibility of the contractor to remove all trash and interior walls of the
basement elevation or will basement walls and contents/trash be left in
place?
o ANSWER: Contractor is responsible for demolition of silo, down
to concrete slab, only. No trash/debris removal is required.
• Please confirm that we are to remove the utilities only within the building
footprint and cap them no further than the exterior perimeter of the
building.
o ANSWER: This is confirmed. Contractor only needs to cap
existing utilities at the edge of the building slab. Contractor shall
document by way of as -built drawing what utilities were discovered
and capped.
• Is there any information showing what utilities are onsite? It would be
helpful to know what utilities are in the ROW next to the basement walls
Version 8/11/2020
