ZONING & ANNEXATION
3:30 P.M.
April 8, 2013
Committee Members Present: Dr. Fred Ferlic, Oliver Davis, Henry Davis, Gavin Ferlic
Citizen Members: Kyle Chamberlin, Marcus Ellison
Other Council Present: Tim Scott, Valerie Schey, Dr. David Varner, Karen White, Derek Dieter
Others Present: Mark Lyons, Sean Meehan, Scott Ford, Kathryn Roos, Huey Scoby
Agenda: Bill No. 13 -24 — Special Exception 1047 Lincolnway East
Dr. Fred Ferlic, Chairperson of the Zoning & Annexation Committee opened the meeting noting all
members present including the two citizen members. There was only one bill, No. 13 -24, scheduled for
consideration. The petitioner requests a special exception to allow "manufacturing food products" in a LB
zoned area. The "food product' is actually beer the petitioner hopes to produce in a brew pub in a former
VFW post at 1047 Lincolnway East.
Mark Lyons from the Building Department reported to Dr. Ferlic that the BZA gave the exception request
a unanimous favorable recommendation. Sean Meehan, the owner, briefly described the proposed brew
pub.
Council Attorney Cekanski - Farrand asked about a timetable if the exception was granted. Mr. Meehan
said he hoped to open by late September. Councilmember Henry Davis complimented Mr. Meehan for
his open communication with councilmembers prior to this meeting and for investing in a business
corridor. Derek Dieter asked about the dollar amount of the venture. Mr. Meehan said upwards of
$350,000 to get up an open. Valerie Schey and Tim Scott also offered appreciation to Mr. Meehan.
Councilman Gavin Ferlic moved to send to full Council favorably. Oliver Davis seconded and all
approved.
There being no further business to come before the joint committees, Chairperson, Dr. Fred Ferlic, Zoning
& Annexation Committee, adjourned the meeting at 3:38 p.m.
Respectfully Submitted,
Dr. Fred Ferlic, Chairperson
Zoning & Annexation Committee
