REGULAR MEETING OCTOBER 9, 2000 <br />Ms. Karen Strunk, no address given, thanked the Council for this commendation and stated that this <br />honor is not only for herself but for South Bend and Muessel School. <br />RESOLVE INTO THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE <br />At 7:10 p.m. Councilmember Coleman made a motion to resolve into the Committee of the Whole. <br />Councilmember Varner seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br />Chairman Uj dak presiding. <br />BILL NO. 47 -00 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL OF THE COMMON <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />ANNEXING TO AND BRINGING WITHIN THE CITY <br />LIMITS OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, CERTAIN LAND <br />IN CENTRE TOWNSHIP CONTIGUOUS THEREWITH; <br />SYLVIA R. HOUSER REVOCABLE TRUST <br />Councilmember Coleman made a motion to continue this bill until November 13, 2000, at the <br />request of the Petitioner. Councilmember King seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote <br />of nine (9) ayes. <br />BILL NO. 66 -00 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL AMENDING THE <br />ZONING ORDINANCE FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT <br />345 - 347 LINCOLNWAY WEST, IN THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />Councilmember White made a motion to continue this bill until November 13, 2000, at the request <br />of the Petitioner. Councilmember Varner seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine <br />(9) ayes. <br />BILL NO. 67 -00 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL AMENDING THE <br />ZONING ORDINANCE FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT <br />530 NORTH LAFAYETTE BOULEVARD IN THE CITY <br />OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />Councilmember King made a motion to continue this bill until October 23, 2000. Councilmember <br />Varner seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br />BILL NO. 69 -00 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL AMENDING THE <br />ZONING ORDINANCE FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT <br />1904 & 1906 EAST IRELAND ROAD IN THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />Councilmember White reported that the Zoning & Annexation Committee met on this bill and sends <br />it to the Council with a favorable recommendation. <br />Mr. John Byorni, Assistant Director, Area Plan Commission, Room 1140 County -City Building, <br />South Bend, Indiana, presented the report from the Commission. Mr. Byorni advised that the <br />petitioner is requesting a zone change from "O" Office to "C" Commercial, "A" Height and Area <br />to allow retail use. <br />Mr. Byorni noted that the property currently contains two (2) single family homes. Access to the <br />site is from Ireland Road. The total site to be rezoned is 1.8 acres. Of that, the buildings will <br />occupy fifteen per cent (15 %) of the site, the parking and drives will occupy fifty -six per cent (56 %) <br />of the site and twenty -nine per cent (29 %) of the site will remain as open space. The site plan is <br />preliminary. <br />
