REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 14, 2000 <br />In regards to the projector at the Hall of Fame, Councilmember Varner stated that since it has been <br />discussed that the National Football Foundation might be taking over the operation of the Hall of <br />Fame these items would be the responsibility of the NFF. He stated that he hopes that the capital <br />budget dollars could be stretched even further. <br />Councilmember Kelly stated that he is not aware of the final break -out of the trash collection but <br />believes that it is a bargain for the citizens of South Bend. <br />There being no one else present wishing to address the Council in opposition to this bill, <br />Councilmember Kelly made a motion for favorable recommendation to full Council concerning this <br />bill. Councilmember Coleman seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br />BILL NO. 9-00 A BILL AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 8, SECTION 2 -116 <br />OF THE SOUTH BEND MUNICIPAL CODE TO COVER ALL <br />CITY OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES AND ALSO THE ST. <br />JOSEPH COUNTY TREASURER UNDER THE CITY'S <br />BLANKET PERFORMANCE BOND <br />Councilmember Aranowski reported that the Personnel & Finance Committee met on this bill and <br />sends it to the Council with a unanimous favorable recommendation. <br />Ms. M. Catherine Roemer, City Controller, County -City Building, Room 1400, SouthBend, Indiana, <br />made the presentation for this bill. <br />Ms. Roemer stated that this bill contains two (2) minor modifications to the ordinance. The first <br />change is the inclusion of the St. Joseph County Treasurer thereby saving the City one thousand <br />dollars ($1,000.00) a year that was spent for a separate endorsement. Secondly, this bill eliminates <br />the language of specific dollar amounts and adds general language of individuals covered under the <br />one million dollar ($1,000,000.00) bond. <br />This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. There was no one present wishing to speak to the <br />Council either in favor of or in opposition to this bill. <br />Councilmember Varner inquired of Ms. Roemer what portion of the cost of this bond will be for the <br />inclusion of the County Treasurer. Ms. Roemer informed Councilmember Varner that she did not <br />have that information but would provide it to him. <br />Therefore, Councilmember Aranowski made a motion for favorable recommendation to full Council <br />concerning this bill. Councilmember Coleman seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote <br />of nine (9) ayes. <br />RISE AND REPORT <br />Councilmember Coleman made motion to rise and report to the full Council.
