/V1/E DESIGN SERVICES
Mechanical/Electrical
Consulting Engineers
May 24, 2024
City of South Bend Board of Public Works
1316 County -City Building
227 W. Jefferson Blvd.
South Bend, IN 46601-1830
Attention: Mr. Patrick Sherman, Project Manager
Reference: Proposal for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Services
Studebaker Museum Partial HVAC Unit Replacement
South Bend, Indiana
Dear Mr. Sherman,
In accordance with our recent discussions, M/E Design Services (M/EDS) is pleased to present this
proposal for mechanical and electrical engineering services associated with the above -referenced project.
We understand that if the terms of this proposal are acceptable, M/EDS and the City of South Bend may
elect to enter into an agreement based on the EJCDC "Agreement between Owner and Engineer for
Professional Services".
DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT:
This project will involve design associated with replacement of the two basement air handling units and
associated condensing units. An alternate will also be included for replacement of the remaining two
original rooftop units.
Initially, our office will meet with you to review overall preferences, budget and schedule. We will also
visit the building and review available drawings. Based on the outcome of this initial coordination, we
will prepare mechanical and electrical drawings for bidding purposes. Since this is an equipment
replacement project, a State Plan Review submission is not anticipated.
During the Bidding Phase, M/E Design Services will answer Bidders' questions, conduct apre-bid
meeting in conjunction with City personnel, and will prepare any required addenda.
During the Construction Phase of the project, our office will answer contractors' questions, review shop
drawings and make site visits to review the work. We currently anticipate a total of approximately four (4)
site visits during the Construction Phase, including the punch list.
120 South Hill Street • P.O.
