AMERESCO4
Green - Clean - Sustainable
Installation of the boilers, pumps, piping, and auxiliary plant equipment was inspected and found to be acceptable by
Ameresco.
Correct phase rotation of the system pumps was verified, and the hot water piping was pressure tested by the electrical
contractor. Point-to-point checks were performed on the new temperature sensors. Integration of the BACnet enabled
boiler and VFD to the BAS and their sequences of operations was verified. Boiler startup was performed by the factory
representative.
Measurement & Verification
The M&V Plan for this ECM was based on IPMVP Option A — Retrofit Isolation Using a Key -Parameter Measurement.
The key parameter that was measured for this ECM was boiler efficiency. The post installation boiler efficiency was
measured and inserted into the savings calculation to determine the Verified Savings. The boiler combustion tests are
shown in Appendix D.
Multiple readings were taken across the firing range of the boilers, and the average measured efficiency was 90.2%.
The measurements were compared to the manufacturer's 100% firing rate efficiency curve for the new boilers, which is
based on a 20°F rise. Two of the measurements were taken at a 100% firing rate, with one of the measurements
occurring when the boiler was achieving a 10°F rise and the other occurring when the boiler was achieving a 24°F rise.
The measured efficiency at a 10OF rise was 88.6%, and the measured efficiency at a 240F was 88.8%. Since the
manufacturer's efficiency curve is based on a 20OF rise, the 88.8% efficiency from the measurement taken at a 240F
rise was inserted into the original savings calculation in the bin that the hot water supply temperature of the
measurement falls in. This recalculated the efficiency curve, based on the actual measurement, to determine the
Verified Savings.
City of Arvada, Colorado I Project #37213 1 M&V Report — Year 2 1 Page 17
