REGULAR MEETING <br />AUGUST 12, 2002 <br />This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br />There was no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to this <br />bill. <br />For the record, Councilmember Kirsits disclosed that he is employed by the South Bend Fire <br />Department. He noted that he will be one of the employees driving this vehicle when he is on duty. <br />However, this vehicle is not assigned to him on a 24/7 basis and it will be used by three (3) different <br />employees. Councilmember Kirsits stated that these vehicles are desperately needed for the Fire <br />Department. Further, Councilmember Kirsits stated that based on the advice of Council Attorney <br />Kathleen Cekanski - Farrand he will be able to vote on this matter. <br />Councilmember White made a motion for favorable recommendation to full Council concerning this <br />bill. Councilmember Aranowski seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br />RISE AND REPORT <br />Councilmember Coleman made motion to rise and report to the full Council. Councilmember Coleman made a motion to pass this bill. <br />Councilmember Varner seconded the motion which carried.
