REGULAR MEETING JULY 28, 2003 <br />BILL NO. 56 -03 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL OF THE COMMON <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />APPROPRIATING THE PROCEEDS DERIVED FROM <br />THE ROBERT BOSCH BRAKING CORPORATION IN <br />THE AMOUNT OF $1,500,000 WITHIN THE STATE <br />GRANTS FUND (FUND 210) FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />FINANCING THE COSTS OF REHABILITATION OF <br />PROPERTY CONNECTED WITH THE ROBERT BOSCH <br />CORPORATION RETENTION PROJECT <br />BILL NO. 57 -03 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL OF THE COMMON <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />APPROPRIATING THE PROCEEDS DERIVED FROM <br />THE INDIANA DEVELOPMENT GRANT FUND IN THE <br />AMOUNT OF $1,000,000 WITHIN THE STATE GRANTS <br />FUND (FUND 210) FOR THE PURPOSE OF FINANCING <br />THE COST OF REHABILITATION OF PROPERTY <br />CONNECTED WITH THE ROBERT BOSCH <br />CORPORATION RETENTION PROJECT <br />Council President White made a motion to combine Bill Nos. 55 -03, 56 -03 and 57 -03 for purposes <br />of Public Hearing. Councilmember Varner seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of <br />eight (8) ayes. <br />Councilmember King, Chairperson, Community and Economic Development Committee, reported <br />that this committee held Public Hearings on these bills this afternoon and voted to send them to the <br />full Council with favorable recommendations. <br />Mr. Robert Case, Community & Economic Development Department, 1200 County -City Building, <br />South Bend, Indiana, made the presentation for this bill. <br />Mr. Case advised that these funds are for the Robert Bosch Retention Project that they have been <br />working on for the past couple of years. Basically they are trying to keep a very valuable company <br />here in town and were able to pull togther some monies from the state and also get some money back <br />from Bosch to help with the processes. <br />This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bills, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br />There was no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to these <br />bills. <br />Therefore, Councilmember Kelly made a motion for favorable recommendation to full Council <br />concerning Bill No. 55 -03. Councilmember Varner seconded the motion which carried by a voice <br />vote of eight (8) ayes. Council President White made a motion for favorable recommendation to <br />full Council concerning Bill No. 56 -03. Councilmember Pfeifer seconded the motion which carried <br />by a voice vote of eight (8) ayes.
