ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING JANUARY 6, 2003 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, met in the Council <br />Chambers of the County -City Building on Monday, January 6, 2003, at 5:00 p.m. The meeting was <br />called to order by Councilmember Roland Kelly and the Invocation and Pledge to the Flag were <br />given. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Present: James Aranowski <br />1St District <br />Charlotte Pfeifer <br />2nd District <br />Roland Kelly <br />3' District <br />Karl King <br />4th District <br />Ervin Kuspa <br />6th District <br />Al "Buddy" Kirsits <br />At -Large <br />Karen L. White <br />At -Large <br />Absent: David Varner <br />5' District <br />Sean Coleman <br />At -Large <br />ELECTION OF COUNCIL PRESIDENT FOR 2003 <br />Councilmember Pfeifer nominated Councilmember Karen L. White for the office of President. <br />Councilmember King seconded the motion which carried by acclamation. Newly elected President <br />White thanked the Council for the opportunity to serve in this capacity. <br />ELECTION OF COUNCIL VICE- PRESIDENT FOR 2003 <br />Council President White nominated Councilmember Sean Coleman for the office of Vice - President. <br />Councilmember Aranowski seconded the motion which carried by acclamation. <br />ELECTION OF CHAIRPERSON - COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE FOR 2003 <br />Council President White nominated Councilmember King for the office of Chairperson - Committee <br />of the Whole. Councilmember Pfeifer seconded the motion which carried by acclamation. <br />RE- APPOINTMENT OF COUNCIL ATTORNEY - 2003 <br />Councilmember King made a motion to reappoint Ms. Kathleen Cekanski - Farrand as the Council <br />Attorney for 2003. Councilmember Kuspa seconded the motion which carried by acclamation. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />There being no further business to come before the Council, the meeting adjourned at 5:08 p.m. <br />
