REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 24, 2004 <br />Be it remembered that the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana met in <br />the Council Chambers of the County -City Building on Monday, May 24, 2004, at 7:00 <br />p.m. The meeting was called to order by President Karen L. Talboom Deputy City Clerk <br />REPORT FROM THE SUB- COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br />To the Common Council of the City of South Bend: The sub - committee has inspected the <br />minutes of the May 10, 2004 meetings of the Council and found them to be correct. <br />Therefore, we recommend the same be approved. <br />Members of the Sub - Committee on Minutes <br />s/Karen L. White <br />s/David Varner <br />Councilmember Coleman made a motion that the minutes of the May 10, 2004, meeting <br />of the Council be accepted and placed on file. Councilmember Kelly seconded the <br />motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br />SPECIAL BUSINESS <br />RESOLUTION NO. 3328 -04 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />PUBLICLY COMMENDING SWANSON <br />PRIMARY CENTER TEACHER, THOMAS L. <br />HEMINGER, AS THE 2004 SOUTH BEND <br />COMMUNITY SCHOOL CORPORATION'S <br />TEACHER OF THE YEAR <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, <br />recognizes that there are over 60,000 teachers teaching in the 294 public school <br />corporations and state - accredited nonpublic schools throughout the state of Indiana; and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council notes that recently the South Bend Community <br />School Corporation honored thirty -six (36) local teachers for their excellence in the <br />classroom and for their special teaching skills; and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council is proud to publicly honor THOMAS L. <br />HEMINGER, who has taught at the grade school level for the past 35 years at Swanson <br />
