REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 22,2004 <br /> Whereas, the Common Council is proud to recognize each member of the South <br /> Bend Police Department SWAT Team, namely: <br /> Sergeant Douglas Bagarus Lieutenant Marc Mersich Sergeant Stephan Smith <br /> Sergeant Robert Culp Corporal Bryan Miller Sergeant Steven Spadafora <br /> Lieutenant Scott Hanley Sergeant Scott Ruszkowski Sergeant Frank Steiger <br /> Corporal Christopher Houser Lieutenant Keith Schweizer Lieutenant Jeffery Walters <br /> Corporal Jason Katowich Corporal Scott Severns Sergeant William Wells <br /> Corporal Timothy Lancaster Corporal Daniel Skibins <br /> Now, Therefore, be it resolved, by the Common Council of the City of South <br /> Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br /> Section I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the <br /> Common Council hereby publicly commends and congratulates all of the members of the <br /> 2004 South Bend Police Department SWAT Team for winning this year's SWAT Skills <br /> Competition which was held in Elkhart, Indiana. <br /> { <br /> Section II. The Common Council acknowledges the South Bend Police <br /> Department SWAT Team's hard-work, discipline, dedication, and skills which have <br /> brought the highest of honors to themselves and to their family and friends; and is a <br /> meritorious accomplishment for the South Bend Police Department and all of the <br /> residents of the City of South Bend, Indiana. <br /> Section III . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its <br /> adoption by the Council and approval by the Mayor. <br /> s/Derek D. Varner, 5th District <br /> s/Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand <br /> Council Attorney <br /> s/John Voorde, City Clerk <br /> s/Stephen J. Luecke, Mayor <br /> Councilmember Puzzello, Chairperson, Health and Public Safety Committee made the <br /> presentation for this Resolution by reading it in its entirety and presenting it to Swat <br /> Team Commander Keith Schweizer. <br /> A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. <br /> Keith Schweizer, Commander South Bend Police Department Swat Team, 701 W. <br /> Sample Street, South Bend, Indiana, thanked the Council for this honor. Mr. Schweizer <br /> commended his team members for their hard work and dedication in bringing home this <br /> award to the South Bend Police Department. <br /> Lieutenant Scott Hanley, 701 W. Sample Street, South Bend, Indiana, commended the <br /> Swat Team for their outstanding effort. <br /> Councilmember Derek Dieter congratulated the Swat Team on their fine efforts on <br /> winning the 2004 Swat Skills Competition. <br /> Councilmember Varner made a motion to adopt this Resolution. Councilmember <br /> Coleman made seconded the motion which carried. <br /> 3 <br />
