REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 22,2004 Whereas, the Common Council is proud to recognize each member of the South Bend Police Department SWAT Team, namely: Sergeant Douglas Bagarus Lieutenant Marc Mersich Sergeant Stephan Smith Sergeant Robert Culp Corporal Bryan Miller Sergeant Steven Spadafora Lieutenant Scott Hanley Sergeant Scott Ruszkowski Sergeant Frank Steiger Corporal Christopher Houser Lieutenant Keith Schweizer Lieutenant Jeffery Walters Corporal Jason Katowich Corporal Scott Severns Sergeant William Wells Corporal Timothy Lancaster Corporal Daniel Skibins Now, Therefore, be it resolved, by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: Section I. On behalf of all of the citizens of the City of South Bend, Indiana, the Common Council hereby publicly commends and congratulates all of the members of the 2004 South Bend Police Department SWAT Team for winning this year's SWAT Skills Competition which was held in Elkhart, Indiana. { Section II. The Common Council acknowledges the South Bend Police Department SWAT Team's hard-work, discipline, dedication, and skills which have brought the highest of honors to themselves and to their family and friends; and is a meritorious accomplishment for the South Bend Police Department and all of the residents of the City of South Bend, Indiana. Section III . This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by the Council and approval by the Mayor. s/Derek D. Pfeifer, 2nd District s/Sean Coleman, At Large s/Roland Kelly, 3rd District s/Al `Buddy" Kirsits, At Large s/Ann Puzzello, 4th District s/Karen L. White, At Large s/Dr. David A. Varner, 5th District s/Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand Council Attorney s/John Voorde, City Clerk s/Stephen J. Luecke, Mayor Councilmember Puzzello, Chairperson, Health and Public Safety Committee made the presentation for this Resolution by reading it in its entirety and presenting it to Swat Team Commander Keith Schweizer. A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. Keith Schweizer, Commander South Bend Police Department Swat Team, 701 W. Sample Street, South Bend, Indiana, thanked the Council for this honor. Mr. Schweizer commended his team members for their hard work and dedication in bringing home this award to the South Bend Police Department. Lieutenant Scott Hanley, 701 W. Sample Street, South Bend, Indiana, commended the Swat Team for their outstanding effort. Councilmember Derek Dieter congratulated the Swat Team on their fine efforts on winning the 2004 Swat Skills Competition. Councilmember Varner made a motion to adopt this Resolution. Councilmember Coleman made seconded the motion which carried. 3
