PUBLIC WORKS AND PROPERTY VACATION FEBRUARY 11, 2013 <br />4:30 P.M. <br />Committee Members Present: Oliver Davis, Dr. David Varner, Valerie Schey,Gavin Ferlic <br />Other Council Members Present: Tim Scott, Henry Davis, Dr. Ferlic, Dr. Varner, Derek Dieter <br />Others Present: Michael Murray, Eric Horvath, Gary Gilot, Kathy Cekanski - Farrand, Erin Blasko <br />Agenda: Two way traffic discussion <br />Only one item was scheduled for the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee, that being an <br />update on downtown two -way traffic studies. Both Eric Horvath and Gary Gilot said a report and <br />recommendation would be ready in 90 days or approximately the middle of May. <br />Under miscellaneous Chairperson Oliver Davis asked Eric and Gary to address the rising groundwater <br />levels near the ethanol plant since it was closed. Once the plants water pumps were shut off rising <br />ground water levels resulted in flooded basements for homes near the plant. <br />David Varner said a statement of "where things stand" was needed from the administration. Karen White <br />echoed that statement. Henry Davis said the lack of response from the Mayor was unacceptable. <br />Something should be done to help the homes affected he stated. <br />Kathy Cekanski - Farrand, Council Attorney asked that the interim City Attorney, Aladean DeRose provide <br />a statement of responsibility. <br />Oliver Davis suggested TIF maoney be used to provide relief for the homeowners, noting expenditure of <br />TIF money comes from the Redevelopment Commission which is made up of 5 members, 3 of whom are <br />appointed by the Mayor. Oliver closed by calling for the City to form a task force to gather info and <br />recommend solution for the water problem. This was to be done promptly with a report to the Council. <br />There being no further business to come before the Council at this time, Chairperson Oliver Davis <br />adjourned,eeting at 4:52 p.m. <br />itted, <br />Public`i rks And Property Vacation Committee <br />
