COMMUNITY RELATIONS <br />Committee Members Present <br />Other Council Present: <br />Others: Jesusa Rivera <br />February 25, 2013 <br />Oliver Davis, Valerie Schey, Tim Scott, <br />Dr. David Varner <br />Henry Davis, Jr., Dr. Fred Ferlic, Karen White, <br />Gavin Ferlic, Derek Dieter <br />Agenda: Bill No. 13 -15 — Request meeting with Federal Rep. to Improve Immigration <br />Oliver Davis, Chair of the Community Relations Committee called this hearing to promote a <br />path to citizenship for illegal immigrants in this country. To promote this view the resolution <br />encouraged the engagement of our federal representatives in Congress to meet with local leaders <br />to listen and work toward making the "dream act" a reality. <br />Valerie Schey offered support. Henry Davis cautioned against raising false expectations in that <br />these considerations fall under federal authority. <br />Jesusa Rivera, local leader in the Hispanic community spoke in support. <br />Ultimately, Valerie Schey motioned the bill get a favorable recommendation.
