<br />THIS INDENTURE WITNESSETH, THAT the University of Notre Dame du
<br />Lac, a corporation created and existing under and by virtue of the
<br />State of Indiana, situated at Notre Dame, in St, Joseph County, State
<br />of Indiana, conveys and quit -claims to thelAunicipal City of South
<br />Bend, its successors and assigns, of the County of St. Joseph and
<br />State of Indiana, for the sum of One ($1.00) Dollar, the following
<br />Real Estate, in St. Joseph County, in the State of Indiana, to wit:
<br />The East one hundred and sixty-five (165) by eighty-two and one-
<br />half (821 ) feet of Lot Number tvienty-three (23 ) in Sorin' s First
<br />Addition as shovm by plat in the records of said St. Joseph County,
<br />said premises being more specifically described asone hundred and
<br />sixty-five (165) feet in length from east to west, and eighty-two
<br />and one half (82-�,) feet in width from north to south, and fronting
<br />east on Notre Dame Avenue.
<br />The said University o.f Notre Dame du Lac acquired the title to
<br />said premises by device Linder the La,a:t Will and Testament of Rev.
<br />Hdward Sox -In, deceased, the same being dated September 2d, 1892,
<br />and probated November 10th, 1693, in Book 7, pages 291-296, in the
<br />records of said Counts- of St. Joseph, and State of Indiana.
<br />This conveyance is made upon the express condition that the above
<br />described premises are conveyed to said itiiunicipal City of South Bend
<br />for the uses and purposes of a site or location for a hose}house and
<br />small park for its Fire Department; that said hose -house shall be of
<br />a size and character entailing a minimum expenditure of 83,500.00,
<br />and be built during the current year; that said hose -house, with
<br />appurtenances, and small park shall be maintained in a becoming and
<br />serviceable condition; that said fire department shall give its
<br />services promptly and gratuitously if a fire should break out in
<br />any of the building at Notre Dame; and if the use of said premises
<br />for the purposes herein specified should be discontinued, or they
<br />should be turned to other uses, or any of the conditions herein
<br />stated should not be fulfilled, than and in that event the title
<br />to said premises shall revert to said University of Notre Dame du
<br />Lac, with full and unqualified right to occupy and possess the said
<br />premises thereafter, free from any liens, claims and incumbrances
<br />created by said Vunicipal City of South Bend.
<br />?end the said University of Notre Dame du Lac covenants for
<br />itself, its successors and personal representatives that it is well
<br />and truly seized of said premises, has good right to convey the same
<br />and guarantee the quiet possession thereof, and that the same are
<br />free from all lawful claims and incumbrances.
<br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the President and Secretary of the Board
<br />of Trustees of said University of Notre Dame du Lac, duly authorized,
<br />have hereunto set their hands and seals and affixed the seal of said
<br />University this 2d day of June, A. D., 1903.

<br />said County, came the University of Notre Dame du Lac, a corporation,
<br />by Rev. John A. Zahm, President of its Board of Trustees, and Rev.
<br />James J. FrGncb-, its secretary, in its name and behalf, and
<br />acknowledged the execution of the above deed of the said University
<br />of Notre Dame du Lac for the uses and purposes therein stated.
