Klosinski, P.E., Assistant City Engineer <br />SUBJECT: 121-070 Fellows Booster Pump Station Improvements (PROJ00000032) <br />Agenda Request – Title Sheet & Request to Advertise <br />DATE: March 5, 2024 <br /> <br />Public Works, the Division of Engineering and Division of Water Works Divisions of Engineering and <br />Wastewater request that the Board of Public Works approve a Title Sheet and Request to Advertise <br />for Public Bids for Project No. 121-070 Fellows Booster Pump Station Improvements at its Regular <br />Meeting on March 12, 2024. This includes two separate bids packages for procurement. The first <br />bid package is for the procurement of a prefabricated pump station. The second bid package is for <br />the procurement of materials and installation services for yard piping, electrical gear, generator <br />equipment and pump station start-up. This project will be funded through the Indiana Finance <br />Authority’s State Revolving Fund for Clean Water projects and the Water Works Capital Fund. <br /> <br />Project Background <br /> <br />The existing Fellows Booster Pump Station has reached its life cycle for replacement of pumps and <br />electrical equipment. Public Works applied for a State Revolving Loan Fund in 2023 to fund the <br />replacement of the major components and build a new Fellows Booster Pump Station. The City of <br />South Bend scored high on the State Revolving Fund review and was considered a high-ranking <br />project within the fundable range. This project will include a prefabricated building, booster pumps, <br />new electrical transformer, generator equipment, flow meter devices, communications equipment, <br />and automated controls. A portion of the water transmission main and valves at the site will also be <br />replaced. <br /> <br />Estimated Public Bid Schedule <br /> <br />Advertisement 1: March 15 or22, 2024 <br />Advertisement 2: March 22 or 29, 2024 <br />Pre-Bid Meeting: Week of March 25-29, 2024 or April 1-5, 2024 <br />Bid Opening: April 9 or 23, 2024 <br />Bid Award (tentative): Within 60 days of Bid Opening (contingent on SRF Loan closing) <br /> <br />The Plans and Specifications are in final revisions and will be ready prior to the first <br />advertisement. The Purchase Requisition will not be added to DFO until SRF Funds are <br />available. <br /> <br />Funding for this project is directed out of the Water Works Capital Fund 622.
