Talboom Deputy <br /> Mary Beth Wisniewski Chief Deputy <br /> <br /> <br />REPORT FROM THE SUB-COMMITTEE ON MINUTES <br /> <br />Councilmember Scott made a motion that the minutes of the November 12, 2012, Meeting of the <br />Council be accepted and placed on file. Councilmember Oliver Davis seconded the motion <br />which carried by a voice vote of eight (8) ayes. <br /> <br />SPECIAL BUSINESS <br />There was no special business to come before the Council at this time. <br /> <br />REPORTS FROM CITY OFFICES <br />th <br />Ann-Carol Nash, Assistant City Attorney, 14 Floor County-City Building, 227 W. Jefferson <br />Blvd., South Bend, Indiana, gave an update on Taxi Cabs. <br /> <br />Ms. Nash advised that there were several changes to the taxi cab ordinance last year that will <br />become effective this years. Councilmember Oliver Davis received some calls concerned about <br />additional measures might be in place next year. She stated that there were several proposals to <br />the ordinance that was passed last year that did not make it into the final bill. She stated that <br />there was some concern about additional costs that the taxi companies would incur that they will <br />actually not incur. Ms. Nash stated that she handed out a three page summary this afternoon at <br />the committee meeting of the changes that happened last year and that will become effective this <br />coming year. (a copy is on file with the Personnel & Finance Committee Meeting Minutes.) <br />Effective January 2, 2013 all taxi companies must have 6 vehicles in their fleet and 6 drivers <br />working under their company name. She stated that all companies that have applied for licenses <br />do in fact have six or more. So there is no problem with that. She stated that all companies must <br />be equipped to take debit or credit card payments. She stated that all taxi companies must have a <br />uniform insignia to be placed on all cabs.
