Despite such <br />Fourth District <br />efforts, there remain properties which continue to have been repeated number of <br />police documented calls for service, as well as repeated requests for compliance <br />David Varner <br />by the Code Enforcement Department and the Law Department. The result has <br />Fifth District <br />been an ongoing and increasing financial drain to our taxpayers, and a resulting <br />decrease of such public services to others. <br />Oliver J. Davis <br />Sixth District <br />The attached ordinance would provide another tool to address chronic problem <br />Derek D. Dieter <br />properties. The ordinance is intended to be supplemental to other regulations <br />At Large <br />currently in place. <br />Gavin Ferlic Several regulations were reviewed in developing the attached ordinance. For <br />At Large example, in Boston "problem properties" are approached in a coordinated multi - <br />department approach. Problem properties are listed on the Boston government <br />Karen L. White website where a chart sets forth the name of the property owner, street address, <br />At Large neighborhood and a summary of reported incidents. Each year an Annual Report <br />is filed summarizing all problem properties. Additional regulations from <br />Owatonna, Minnesota; New Bedford, Massachusetts; Minneapolis, Minnesota; <br />and several cities in the State of Washington were also studied. The "best <br />practices" were selected and incorporated into an ordinance which meets the <br />needs of the City of South Bend. <br />
