Klosinski, P.E., Assistant City Engineer SUBJECT: 123-031A WWTP Degrit Building Yard Piping Replacement (PROJ00000435) Agenda Request – Title Sheet & Request to Advertise DATE: January 16, 2024 The Divisions of Engineering and Wastewater request that the Board of Public Works approve a Title Sheet and Request to Advertise for Public Bids for Project No. 123-031 WWTP Degrit Building Yard Piping Replacement at its Regular Meeting on January 23, 2024. This is the first letting of two scheduled projects for improvements in this area of the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The first project addresses Yard Piping. The second project will replace the DAF Units with gravity belt thickeners. Project Background The existing Primary Sludge and Waste Activated Sludge yard piping will be replaced between the Compressor Building #5 basement and the Degrit Building #6 basement. Concrete sidewalk, asphalt pavement, concrete stairs and handrail will also be replaced as required to expose and replace the yard piping between the buildings and existing tanks in this area of the Wastewater Treatment Plant. The 30+ year old sludge piping has experienced multiple breaks and repairs over the last three years, and the section loss of the pipe has slowly deteriorated due to the abrasive nature of the grit and solids that carry through the primary sludge and waste activated sludge piping. New, Protecto 401 interior coated ceramic lined ductile iron pipe will be installed to replace the existing cement lined ductile iron pipe. Public Bid Schedule Advertisement 1: January 26, 2024 Advertisement 2: February 2, 2024 Pre-Bid Meeting: February 8, 2024 Bid Opening: February 27, 2024 Bid Award (tentative): March 12, 2024 The Plans and Specifications are in final revisions and will be ready prior to the first advertisement on Friday, January 26, 2024. The Purchase Requisition is being added to DFO the afternoon of January 16, 2024. Funding for this project is directed out of the Sewage Works Capital – Wastewater Capital, Account 642-06-605-514-442005. For questions regarding the subject agenda request, contact Jacob M.
