BILL NO. ORDINANCE NO. 73,S-9-8'q AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE ANNUAL PAY AND MONETARY FRINGE BENEFITS OF FIREFIGHTERS FOR THE CALENDAR YEARS OF 1985 AND 1986 STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: The South Bend Common Council has responsibility for fixing by ordinance the annual compensation of all members of the Fire Department, pursuant to Indiana Code 36- 8- 3 -3(d). Under that authority, the Common Council's Wage Committee and the Wage Committee of the South Bend Firefighters Association, Local No. 362, held discussions on several occasions concerning annual pay and monetary fringe benefits for sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department for calendar years 1985 and 1986. As a result of those decisions, the Common Council adopts in this ordinance the agreement between the parties. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, as follows: SECTION I. (a) The South Bend Common Council recognizes the Wage ommittee of the South Bend Firefighters Association, Local No. 362, as the sole bargaining unit for the annual pay and monetary fringe benefits for sworn members of the South Bend Fire Department excluding the Fire Chief, Assistant Chiefs, and Battalion Chiefs. (b) The Fire Chief, Assistant Chiefs and Battalion Chiefs of the South Bend Fire Department are designated in this ordinance as "Officers." SECTION II. Annual pay for the Officers and other sworn members of t e South Bend Fire Department, by rank, for calendar years 1985 and 1986 shall be as follows, provided, however, that nothing herein shall exclude the applicability of Section III of this ordinance should events set forth therein occur: RANK 1985 1986 Fire Chief 30,630 31,243 Assistant Chiefs 28,230 28,795 Battalion Chiefs 25,030 25,531 Captains 21,500 21,919 Specialists 21,850 22,269 Engineers 10 + years 20,800 21,219 Engineers 9 -10 20,550 20,969 Engineers 8 -9 20,300 20,719 V-�4ncorc 7 -9 90.050 20.469
