BILL NO. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 7 -$ <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $17,000.00 FROM THE <br />ODMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT FUND FOR THE <br />SECURE BUILDING AND DEMOLITION PROGRAM OPERATED <br />BY THE DEPARTMENT OF CODE ENFORCEMENT. <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: <br />The City's neighborhood preservation and revitalization program is <br />based on a variety of activities including housing rehabilitation, public <br />works, park improvements, social services, and code enforcement. The <br />demolition of unsafe structures and the securing of structures that present a <br />health and safety hazard are vital elements to the well -being of neighborhoods <br />and neighborhood residents. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of <br />South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. The sum of $17,000.00 is hereby appropriated for the <br />program year beginning January 1, 1984, from the City of South Bend's <br />Community Development Block Grant Funds to be administered by the Division of <br />Community Development as set forth below: <br />Project No. Description Amount <br />CD84 -202 <br />Secure Building <br />and Demolition <br />Program $17,000.00 <br />SECTION II.
