BILL NO. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2,374-00y <br />AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $3,242.00 FROM THE <br />LOCAL EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY FUND TO BE <br />ADMINISTERED BY THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH <br />ITS HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION AND DEPARTMENT OF <br />ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT. <br />STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: <br />The City of South Bend is committed to equal opportunity <br />in employment. In attempting to achieve this goal, a local Human <br />Rights Commission has been established. <br />The Commission has a contract with the U.S. Equal <br />Employment Opportunity Commission. Said contract was amended and <br />$3,242.00 was granted the Commission for training purposes. This <br />Ordinance will allow the Commission to obtain the necessary <br />training that will enable it to more effectively resolve charges <br />of illegal discrimination and promote equal opportunity in employment. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of <br />the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. The sum of $3,242.00 is hereby appropriated <br />from the Equal Employment Opportunity Fund under a grant from the <br />U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The appropriation <br />shall be administered by the Human Rights Commission and Department <br />of Econonic Development and used for the operation thereof. <br />SECTION II. This Ordinance shall be in full force and <br />effect from and after its passage by the Common Council and approval <br />by the Mayor. <br />
