White of South Bend, <br /> Indiana are humbled to honor and officially welcome Tennessee State University(TSU)to the <br /> City of South Bend for the first(1st) ever HBCU Exchange weekend hosted by Brian Frazier, of <br /> Frazier Kid Productions; and <br /> 41 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) are public and private <br /> institutions established before the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which, from their inception, have <br /> gifted Black people with access to education which was denied to them during slavery and <br /> segregation; and <br /> Oilleread, Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover has served as President of Tennessee State <br /> University since January 2013. Under her leadership as the university's first (1st) female <br /> president,TSU has experienced a significant increase in enrollment, alumni fundraising, <br /> research dollars and academic offerings. <br /> O among notable individuals graduating from HBCUs are Oprah Winfrey <br /> (Tennessee State University), Martin Lather King, Jr. (Morehouse College) Spike Lee <br /> (Morehouse College), Samuel L. Jackson(Morehouse College), Chadwick Boseman, (Howard <br /> University), Kamala Harris (Howard University), Stacey Abrams (Spelman College) and Keisha <br /> Knight Pulliam (Spelman College, Eta Kappa Chapter), Barbara Jordan(Texas Southern <br /> University); and <br /> 41‘fttlfti, locally, South Bend's Brian Fraizer is an Alumnus of Tennessee State <br /> University, graduating in 2002; and <br /> OOft•reurI, Tennessee State University was originally organized as the Agricultural and <br /> Industrial State Normal School in 1909 and began serving students on June 19, 1912. Its status <br /> was raised to a four-year teachers' college in 1922, and two(2)years later it was renamed the <br /> Agricultural and Industrial State Normal College; and <br />
