Leszczynski <br />Director, Public Works <br />Members of the South Bend Common Council <br />4th Floor, County -City Building <br />South Bend, Indiana 46601 <br />Re: Water Rate Change <br />Dear Councilmen: <br />(219) 284 -9251 <br />The accounting firm of Coopers and Lybrand of South <br />Bend was commissioned to conduct a study of the financial <br />position of the South Bend Water Works. Based on this <br />study they have recommended a 5.2% rate increase be initiated. <br />The Board of Water Works Commissioners after careful review <br />of the documentation has agreed with the recommendation. <br />The Water Works Commissioners passed a resolution on June 17, <br />1985, approving the 5.2% increase and recommending that the <br />South Bend Common Council concur in their decision. Upon <br />passage by the Council the proposed rates will be forwarded <br />to the Public Service Commission of Indiana for final approval. <br />The 5.2% revenue increase will insure that the Water <br />Utility is maintained in sound physical and financial condition. <br />If you have any questions please contact me at your <br />convenience. <br />Sincerely, <br />John E.
