ORDINANCE NO. •7 `13 8' •g.S- <br /> AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $12 ,000 .00 FROM THE <br /> MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR <br /> INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE ON THE FIRE CONTROL <br /> SPRINKLER SYSTEM AND MAINTENANCE ON THE AIR <br /> CONDITIONING CHILLER MACHINERY INSTALLED AT <br /> THE MORRIS CIVIC AUDITORIUM <br /> STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: <br /> The Morris Civic Auditorium is owned by the City of South <br /> Bend and is managed under the control of the Century Center Board of <br /> Managers . <br /> The Century Center Board of Managers has determined that an <br /> emergency exists at the Morris Civic Auditorium in that the fire <br /> control sprinkler system may not be operating. In order to determine <br /> the extent of the problem with the system, an immediate inspection is <br /> necessary. Pending the report of the inspection, maintenance will be <br /> required . An estimated cost of the inspection and maintenance has been <br /> determined to be $6 ,400.00. In order to insure the safety of the <br /> patrons and employees of the Morris Civic Auditorium it is necessary to <br /> take immediate action. <br /> In addition, the air conditioning chiller machinery is <br /> malfunctioning due to a lack of necessary maintenance. In order to <br /> provide a comfortable environment for patrons of the Morris Civic <br /> Auditorium, and in order to prevent excessive costs in temporary <br /> maintenance of the freon level in the system, it is necessary to <br /> perform major repair work on the chillers . <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br /> CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS : <br /> SECTION I. The amount of $12 ,000.00 is hereby appropriated <br /> and ordered set apart out of the Morris Civic Auditorium Improvement <br /> Fund for an inspection of the fire control sprinkler system and <br /> necessary maintenance of both the fire control sprinkling system and <br /> the air conditioning chiller machinery to the extent of $12 ,000.00. <br /> SECTION II.
