(1) If the property is occupied, the officer shall first present proper <br /> credentials to the occupant and request entry explaining the reasons <br /> therefor; and <br /> (2) If the property is unoccupied, the officer shall make a reasonable <br /> effort to locate the owner or other persons having control of the property <br /> and request entry explaining the reasons therefor. <br /> (b) In the event a Code Enfocement Officer, Health Officer, Police Officer, <br /> or Humane Officer has reasonable cause to believe that the keeping or <br /> maintaining of an animal is so hazardous, unsafe or dangerous or constitutes <br /> a public nuisnace as to require immediate inspection to safeguard the animal <br /> or the public health or safety, the officer shall first present proper <br /> credentials and request entry explaining the reasons therefor. If entry is <br /> refused or cannot be obtained because the owner or other person having <br /> charge or control of the property cannot be found after reasonable search, <br /> the Officer shall have recourse to secure lawful entry and inspection of the <br /> property. <br /> Sec. 5-47 Fees. <br /> In addition to all other fees required by law to be paid, the following fees <br /> shall be paid: <br /> (a) Pet Registration: <br /> Each altered dog $2.00 <br /> Each unaltered dog $5.00 <br /> Each dog owned by a person over age of 65 $2.00 <br /> A statement from a veterinarian saying that <br /> neutering shall constitute a threat to the <br /> health of that animal shall be issued a <br /> permit for $2.00 <br /> Replacement tag $5.00 <br /> (1) Application for a pet registration must be made within thirty (30) <br /> days of acquiring a dog over the age of six (6) months, or within thirty <br /> (30) days of the date in which a puppy attains the age of six (6) months. <br /> (2) This requirement will not apply to non-residents keeping an animal <br /> within the City for not more than thirty (30) days. <br /> (b) Pet Shop Permit: <br /> Fee $100.00 <br /> (1) Permit will be issued after inspection approved by Code Enforcement <br /> Department and/or Board of Health and verification of same submitted to <br /> Controller's office. <br /> (c) Circus and Carnival Permits: <br /> Fee As set forth in Sec. 4-22 <br /> Sec. 5-48 Permit Denials. <br /> Any person who is denied a permit or whose permit is revoked shall be <br /> governed by the provisions set forth in Section 4-16. <br />
