Proposal for City of South Bend - Our Lady of Hungary
COVER LETTER
November 28, 2023
Gemma Stanton, ERC/Project Engineer
City of South Bend
227 W. Jefferson Street
South Bend, IN 46601
RE: REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
CE Services for Safe Routes to School at Our Lady of Hungary (DES# 2100025)
Dear Ms. Stanton:
Here at Abonmarche we believe that all people are entitled to a safe and accessible route wherever they may
travel throughout the City, especially to and from school. These intricate and detailed projects are where the
plans of the City meet the realities and unknowns of the real world. All public works projects contain challenges
and unknowns that must be managed through the construction inspection process. How this process is
managed is the key to controlling the project construction timeline and budget as well as ensuring that the
projected overall life expectancy of the improvements are met.
We employ a few very basic tenants to the process of construction inspection and oversight for our clients:
1. Be engaged, firm and fair with contractors and convey our expectations.
2. Be great communicators: provide timely project information to our client as well the contractor.
3. Be a part of the solution to address any challenges that arise.
We hope our proposal demonstrates that the team we have assembled has the construction experience,
along with the technical knowledge and support staff, to successfully oversee the construction of this project
for the City.
We believe our qualifications, team and our firsthand experience with Safe Routes to School Projects set us
apart. We hope you agree and look forward to working with you on this great project.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this proposal, please do not hesitate to contact our office at
(574)232-8700.
Sincerely,
Abonmarche Consultants, Inc.
John W. Linn, PE
Principal & Chairman of the Board
Robert A. Nichols
Transportation Development Manager
2
