Seargent Bourne, who works for the South Bend Police Department, formally introduced himself <br /> to the CCAC members. Seargeant Bourne, spoke of the upcoming kid-friendly Halloween event, <br /> Cops and Goblins, that is planned to take place on October 24, 2023. The Sergeant described his <br /> responsibilities and the process by which the department will distribute tickets for the event. The <br /> Department distributed approximately 7,000 tickets to members of the community. There was <br /> further discussion about this upcoming event amongst committee members. <br /> Chief Ruszkowski discussed the recent Howard Park Fusion Festival and how beneficial it was to <br /> the neighborhood. There was talk regarding the SBPD's desire to maintain community safety and <br /> the various challenges they have encountered. The chief further told the committee that the SBPD <br /> has been actively addressing local crime and making great efforts to protect the public. <br /> The floor was shared for more discussion on what could be done regarding safety measures to <br /> which Chief Ruszkowski informed the committee about a safety summit recently held at Notre <br /> Dame University. <br /> Seargeant Bourne offered his contact for any further questions the committee members may have <br /> in the future. <br /> Katherine Hough,City Attorney,provided her email and assistance to the committee for additional <br /> questions or concerns. Charles King, Community Review Board Director introduced himself and <br /> explained to the committee his role and responsibilities within his department. <br /> There was further discussion within the committee and introductions of new CCAC members/ <br /> SGA representatives. <br /> Committee Chair Tomas Morgan concluded the meeting with future plans for the CCAC.
