'J 5"247'.-g <br /> AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING $83,500 . 00 FROM <br /> THE LOCAL EQUAL EMPLOYMENT AND EQUAL HOUSING <br /> OPPORTUNITY FUND TO BE ADMINISTERED BY THE <br /> CITY OF SOUTH BEND THROUGH ITS HUMAN RIGHTS <br /> COMMISSION AND DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC <br /> DEVELOPMENT. <br /> STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: <br /> The City of South Bend is committed to equal opportunity <br /> in employment and housing. In attempting to achieve this goal, a <br /> local Human Rights Commission has been established. This Ordinance <br /> will enable the Human Rights Commission to resolve charges of <br /> illegal discrimination and to otherwise develop and implement <br /> programs designed to promote equal opportunity in employment <br /> and housing. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of <br /> the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows : <br /> SECTION I . The sum of $83 ,500. 00 is hereby appropriated <br /> for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 1985 and ending September <br /> 30, 1986 . A total of $73, 000 . 00 is appropriated from the Equal <br /> Employment Opportunity Fund under a grant from the U.S . Equal <br /> Employment Opportunity Commission and a total of $10 ,500 . 00 is <br /> appropriated from the Equal Housing Opportunity Fund under a grant <br /> from the U.S . Department of Housing and Urban Development. The <br /> appropriation shall be administered by the Human Rights Commission <br /> and Department of Economic Development and used for the operation <br /> thereof. <br /> SECTION II . This Ordinance shall be in full force and <br /> effect from and after its passage by the Common Council and approval <br /> by the Mayor. <br /> Member of the Comm. Council <br />
