Community Investment Committee Meeting 2013 South Bend Common Council The February 18, 2013 meeting of the Community Investment Committee was called to order by its Chairperson, Council Member Gavin Ferlic, at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Informal Meeting Room. Persons in attendance included Council Members Scott, Henry Davis, Jr., Schey, Dr. Fred Ferlic, Oliver J. Davis, Dieter, Gavin Ferlic, and Karen L. White; Pong Yin (Amy Le) Le, and Council Attorney Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. Council Member Ferlic noted that the Committee Members include Council Member Henry Davis, Jr., who is the Vice-Chairperson, Council Member Valerie Schey, Dr. Fred Ferlic, and himself as Chairperson. A quorum was present. Council Member Ferlic noted that the purpose of the meeting was to interview the four (4) individuals who applied for consideration to be appointed to the Human Rights Commissions, namely: Pong Yin (Amy Le) Le, Elaine Meyer-Lee, Irdell Sanders, and Muhammed Shabazz. The Committee then proceeded to interview the first two (2) applicants separately by each being asked a series of questions. The last two applicants were not available when called. It was noted that Mr. Shabazz may have thought he was being interviewed for both positions when he was interviewed . Formal action will be taken at next Monday's Committee meeting. There being no further business to come before the Committee, Council Member Gavin Ferlic adjourned the meeting at 6:18 p.m. Mr. Irdell Sanders arrived later and as a result Council Member Gavin Ferlic reconvened the Community Investment Committee at 7:18 p.m. Dr. David Varner was present for this portion of the committee meeting. Following his interview for consideration to be appointed to the Human Rights Commission, Council Member Ferlic adjourned the Committee meeting at 7:25 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Gavin Ferlic, Chairperson Community Investment Committee ,
