BILL NO. <br /> ORDINANCE NO. `] C,y'S_- <br /> AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 20 OF THE <br /> SOUTH BEND MUNICIPAL CODE ENTITLED "TRUCK ROUTES" <br /> STATEMENT OF PURPOSE AND INTENT: <br /> Because the Council considers the concerns of citizens and <br /> their desire to have a quality of life which is not impeded by <br /> commercial vehicle traffic and nuisance noise , the following <br /> ordinance updates truck route provisions, sets forth reasonable <br /> and responsible regulations for commercial vehicles in order to <br /> meet existing traffic demands . <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF <br /> THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> SECTION I. Chapter 20, Article 8, is deleted in its <br /> entirety and shall read as follows : <br /> Article 8 . Truck Routes <br /> Section 20-106. Definitions . <br /> (A) As used in this article , the following terms shall <br /> mean: <br /> ( 1) "Truck" as the term is used in this section, is a <br /> vehicle with an overall length of twenty ( 20) feet or <br /> more, or over one ( 1) ton capacity, and includes <br /> semi-trailer trucks and either the tractor pulling the <br /> same , or the trailer itself. Truck includes every <br /> self-propelled commercial vehicle used for the <br /> transport of goods or property described as follows : <br /> (a) From a point outside the City through the City <br /> to a point outside the City; <br /> (b) From a point outside the City to a point <br /> within the City limits; or <br /> (c) From a point within the City limits to a point <br /> outside the City limits. <br /> (d) From a point within the City limits to a point <br /> within: the City limits. <br /> Section 20-107. Truck Routes . <br /> ( 1) No person shall operate an truck as defined in Section <br /> 20-106 within the corporate limits of the City of South Bend , <br /> except upon the following streets and parts of streets shown upon a <br /> map entitled "Schedule A-i" , incorporated herein by reference . At <br /> least two ( 2) copies of said map shall be on file in the Office of <br /> the Clerk for public inspection. Such streets and parts of streets <br /> are hereby designated as official truck routes : <br />
