The South Bend Watch Company was <br />located at 1706-1720 Mishawaka <br />Avenue. <br /> <br />The president of the South Bend Watch <br />Company, Clement Studebaker, officially <br />press the button on March 28, 1903 to <br />start manufacturing of their watches. <br /> <br />On Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday, <br />November 27, 1929, the nearly 300 <br />employees of the company were notified <br />the plant would be closed until January 1, <br />1930. The company never reopened. <br /> <br />Rebuilt in 1965, it is now the Administra- <br />tion Building for the campus and home to <br />the IUSB Leighton School of Business and <br />Economics. <br /> <br />Additional information can be found at <br />www.historymuseumsb.org/south -bend- <br />watch-company
